Try this One Thing to Feel Happier

You have probably heard of writing a gratitude list and how it can make you feel better as it focuses on positive rather than negative emotions. I tend to just think about things I have been grateful for during the day just before I go to sleep. It can be as simple as the sun was shining or I had a delicious meal. It is easy to get caught up in what has gone wrong and then often our mind spirals and comes up with more negative connotations and we end up feeling bad. It is quite powerful to end the day with feeling good, so try this for 1 week by either writing down 5 things you are grateful for or just thinking of them.


An alternative is a gratitude box. This is a physical container (even an old shoebox) that you can write something that you are grateful for and just add to the box. You can do this whenever you feel like it and when you are feeling particularly down or sad, your gratitude box becomes a helpful tool. All you have to do is open the box, reach inside, and pick one or two messages out: You’re reminded of something to be grateful for.
