Permission to Pause over the Festive Season

Writer's picture: HelenHelen

This time of year can be quite draining and we can feel pulled in different directions. Often we are trying to finish work tasks before the end of the year plus be thinking about presents, what is happening over the Christmas period, which family members to see when, what food to buy... and the list goes on.

I haven't started shopping yet and I'm busy with work up until the 20th December. I thought I'd write a blog on how to carve some relaxation time in and look at things that you can do to look after yourself. As women the lions share often falls to us and it is important to look after your energy levels particularly over the holiday period.

  • Carve out some me-time, put it in your diary (the number one thing I hear from women is that they just don't have the time and that it helps having something to look forward to in the diary).

  • Take a walk in nature, listen to the birds, look at the colours around you

  • Have a cup of herbal tea and read a book or write in your journal

  • Book a massage or reflexology

  • Natter on the phone with a close friend

  • Watch your favourite film without looking at your phone or laptop to check e-mails or social media

  • Put on your favourite music and dance

  • Take a hot bath or shower, make it feel like a spa, add essential oils and candles

  • Cook your favourite meal and savour every bite

  • Take a nap in the afternoon or meditate or do deep breathing

I hope you manage to have some rest time at the end of the year, Happy Christmas and hope 2025 is a positive year. Helen x
